Ode to Cynicism

the whole world’s gone inane
with television infomercials
elected as our head
just drown it in the caffeination
our over-medicated nation
will see no dreams unmake your bed
just feel it in your veins
this apathy somehow appealing
to longings for the sane
whilst poetry is so revealing
a portraiture of unsensed feelings
confessions of an unwashed brain
